Red dot designs in Shenzhen

From Sept 27 to Oct 30, the Red Dot Design Exhibition, known as the Oscars of the design industry, is on show courtesy of Mixc World in Shenzhen. Expect to see cultural and artistic celebrities among the roughly 32 art and fashion salons in the next 12 days.

This is not the first thing Mixc World has done with designing. Opened in Sept this year, it has become a new landmark in Shenzhen, as people notice the elephant hanging outside the mall. 

The Bubblecoat Elephant is 12 meters long, 7.5 meters high (with the nose about 24 meters long), and weighs 30 tons. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

The elephant, designed by Florentijn Hofman, father of the Rubber Duck, is named Bubblecoat Elephant. It has now the world's longest elephant trunk as a water jet public art device.

The works of this exhibition are in 47 categories, with a total of more than 300 exhibits, including the most cutting-edge products from areas like intelligent technology and home furnishings. More than 100 samples of the Red Dot Award winning products are available for sale at the exhibition.
