Charity project focuses on sick children

On Oct 13, Ordos held a grand opening ceremony for the project "Financing needy families in Inner Mongolia, saving children in sickness".

Government leaders representing Ordos and the Dongsheng district Party committee and other dignitaries such as Cao Zhichen, vice mayor of the Ordos Municipal People's Government, Yan Meirong, executive vice president of the Red Cross Society of China and Li Lin, a famous philanthropist and the chairwoman of the charity foundation bearing her name participated in the ceremony.

The project was initiated by Li and founded after an active response by other benevolent enterprises and charitable entrepreneurs. Its main object is to benefit children less than 12 years of age from registered poor families in Inner Mongolia. The medical expenses of the hospitalized children who receive treatment in Ordos Kangyi hospital will be taken care of by the hospital and the Li Lin Charity Foundation.

The first group of ten children with epilepsy and cerebral palsy has already been selected.

Li Lin, born in Ordos, founded the first charity foundation named after a female entrepreneur in China.

In her speech, Li shared her personal experience of doing business and helping poor children overcome disease. She said she will continue to explore the causes of public welfare and help more needy children get the superior care that they deserve.

At the end of the ceremony, the guests lit the starting ball together. Then a fund-raising activity was held to further support the treatment of sick children in Inner Mongolia.
