During the Golden Week holiday, Nanyang welcomed 6.27 million tourists and made 3 billion yuan ($452 million) in revenue, while witnessing self-driving trips, rural tourism and Internet Plus develop into popular trends.

With the National Day holiday and Mid-Autumn Festival coinciding this year, a great number of tourists to Nanyang drove their own vehicles to visit their friends and relatives in the city.

Self-driving trips have also become the prevailing practice of tourists from neighboring cities such as Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Xiangyang and Xi'an. With friends, relatives and family members as a team, a two or three-day trip to Nanyang was a common choice, according to industry sources.

Part of the reason can be attributed to increasingly sophisticated and human-oriented mobile apps in relation to scenic spots, hotels and transport, which make independent travel easier, faster, and more reliable.

In the meantime, a one-stop service platform, data monitoring and distribution launched by local tourism administrations have also helped ensure the safety of self-driving visitors as well as providing greater convenience.

With folk customs, delicacies and culture becoming top draws for tourists, the Lotus Garden, Yulania Denudata Eco Garden, Artist Village and Stone Village in Nanyang had attracted many sightseers to taste local food and pick vegetables and fruits.

The Dinosaur Relics Park received more than 40,000 visitors over the eight-day holiday, while Longtan valley welcomed 23,500 visitors. The integration of the internet of tourism proved successful with a surge in the proportion of visitors booking tickets online.
