Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month.

The festival celebrates three fundamental concepts which are closely tied to one another: gathering, giving thanks and praying. It is an occasion for outdoor reunions among relatives and friends. Traditional activities include eating mooncakes, watching the full moon and guessing lantern riddles -- an activity involving writing riddles on lanterns while other people try to guess the answers.

A series of activities were organized for children in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, setting the festive mood.
