Dalian Lushunkou Tourism Group is attracting design ideas for the hearth of a 10.66-meter-diameter pot with a 50,000 yuan ($7489.51) award.

The pot will be placed in the Lushunkou Panlong Temple to cook local dishes during holidays and festivals.

In order to enhance the festive atmosphere, the pot will be heated mainly by firewood, the original cooking method. Use of firewood is a high requirement for the design of the pot’s hearth.

The pot, made of stainless steel, is 1.20 meters in height, 8 millimeters in thickness and has a diameter of 10.66 meters. It weighs 6.50 tons and will be the biggest thin-wall and integral-molded pot in China.

Visitors will be able to come to Lushunkou Panlong Temple to taste Laba congee cooked in the pot during the Laba Festival, which falls on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month each year.
