Guiyang seeks 'tourism plus' development

The eighth Guiyang Tourism Industry Development Conference will be held in Qingzhen city of Guizhou province on Sept 27, according to a press conference held Sept 21.

Aiming to make Guiyang a world famous ecotourism city, the conference plays a significant role in promoting the development of Guiyang's tourism industry, economy and society.

In recent years, it has become an important platform to promote the integrated development of tourism, agriculture, culture, sports and related industries.

Data shows that in 2016, Guiyang received more than 110.92 million tourists, an increase of 31 percent year-on-year. The city's tourism industry garnered a total income of 138.95 billion yuan ($21.06 billion), growing 33.5 percent year-on-year.

Host city Qingzhen depends on resource advantages to explore the path of 'tourism plus' through promoting integration of tourism and other industries into a regional pattern.

In the first half of 2017, Qingzhen welcomed 7.15 million tourists achieving income of 4.3 billion yuan.
