The 2017 Ningbo talents development summit forum as the main forum heralding the 2017 Ningbo Talents, Science and Technology Week, was held on Sept 23. 

Over 500 attendees including officials from Ningbo municipal government and experts from home and abroad were on site to share their ideas on talents and Ningbo talents development and prospects.  

Hou Yunchun, former deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, delivered the keynote address on the current national economic situation and how to revitalize the country and enterprises through talents.

Hou emphasized that talents are the key to economic development transformation. Enterprises should strengthen the mechanic talents cultivation and skilled workers training to progressively achieve their transformation of economic growth pattern, according to Hou, and he also predicting that five years from now, the talent development of China will be from talent net outflow to net inflow.

Gao Hongbing, Alibaba's vice-president and head of AliResearch, shared with the audience how digital economy develops and changes the world. He said that China's economy has been changed and transformed by new technology industries from the traditional industrial-based economy to the new center – digital economy.

"What Ningbo needs now is digital and innovative talents to open a new era for its regional economy. The city should take advantage of its resources and policies to attract and introduce talents that will help it to take a rightful place in the new manufacturing industry. "People see it, so they believe it", Gao added.

Prof. Christoph Meinel, a member of acatech, the National German Academy of Science and Engineering spoke on the title "Re-image the future in an age of connection and insight Industry 4.0". He shared his opinions on how digital transformation changes the present individual and social life.

"It is a revolution. It is a real that digital technology changes all," Prof. Meinel said. Driven by various internet and technological innovations, Prof. Meinel introduced that digital technology now allows us to provide smart and digital wrap for not only human, but also subjects. Subjects can now communicate with each other like human beings do. Digital wraps like the Internet of Things (IoT), allows us to dream of a smart world, he noted that what we need are technical researchers and more talents who can apply in practice.

To create an attractive environment for the talents, Ningbo plans to release more preferential policies in housing, healthcare and funding to ensure that talents are satisfied with their life and work in the city.

Ningbo, a city of culture and a gateway to the world, now opens its door to welcome global talents.
