Wuxi's foreign residents had their cake and voted for it too on Sept 24, as the city held a Foreigners' Favorite Wuxi Pastry event at the Wuxi Grand Hotel.

Sponsored by Wuxi Municipal Publicity Department, the event aimed to promote Wuxi food and culture to foreigners and celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.

The lucky participants got to sample delicious pastry dishes from ten local restaurants, as well as food from three foreign-run restaurants, which were selected by an online vote before the competition.

Among the mouthwatering contenders vying to impress the foreign guests were handmade wontons from Ling De Ling Restaurant, hot mooncakes from San FengQiao, plum blossom cake from Taihu Hotel, Mochi pastry from Xiao Ming Restaurant and “silver” noodles from Gong Bei Lou Restaurant.

More than 200 people from China and abroad gathered to enjoy the tasty food and watch cooking demonstrations by local pastry chefs and performances by Wuxi folk artists.
