A judicial administration service seminar themed on Belt and Road Initiative was held on August 26 in Beijing.

The seminar, with a focus on implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, discussed four subjects: promotion of legal services and foreign exchange, legal guarantees and regional security, theoretical and practical innovation, as well as talent cultivation and team building.

It emphasized that the rule of law can guarantee construction of the Belt and Road and legal services will play an important role in that construction.

Since the legal environment in the countries and regions along the Belt and Road is quite complicated, legal risks exist in international economy and trade, transnational investment and management.

And given differences in those countries’ cultures, traditions and laws, the cost of legal services will be quite high. It's clear that public legal services should be strengthened to protect the legal interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens.

Consequently, judicial administration organs and legal services workers are encouraged to take the initiative in providing high-quality legal services and protecting the legal interests of the country, enterprise and citizens, the seminar said.

It was pointed out that judicial administration work can be summarized as public legal services which play an important role in the promotion of the rule of law, economic and social development, social equity and justice, and social harmony and stability.

The Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road were first proposed in 2013. As of May this year, the initiative had obtained support from more than 100 countries and international organizations and led to intergovernmental cooperation agreements with more than 50 involved countries.
