Baotou students shine at national sports competition

Students from North Heavy Industry No 3 Middle School in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, performed well at the 13th National Students Sports Games concluding in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang province, winning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal, Baotou Daily reported on Sept 21.

Chen Bofan, a student from North Heavy Industry No 3 Middle School, won first place during a Nangun competition for male students attending middle schools, at the national students’ sports meeting on Sept 5, winning the first gold medal for the autonomous region.

The Inner Mongolia delegation consisted of 171 members participating in seven sports including track and field, martial arts and swimming. The delegation won two gold, five silver, and five bronze medals in total.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the General Administration of Sport of China, and the Communist Youth League Center, the 13th National Student Sports Games of the People's Republic of China opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Sept 3.

A total of 5,966 athletes from 34 delegations from around the country competed in 10 different sports, including athletics, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, gymnastics, and swimming, during the 13-day sports event.
