Xiamen athletes make impression at Mokpo sports meeting

A team of young athletes from Xiamen in East China's Fujian province hurled themselves into the action at the 2017 Mokpo International Athletics Throwing Meeting in Mokpo, South Korea on Aug 31-Sept 4.

The team were competing at the championships thanks to an invitation from the South Korean Athletics Association and the city of Mokpo, which is a sister city of Xiamen.

The group from Xiamen made a big impact in the throwing contest, with Lin Yi and Yu Lixia both finishing third in the men's and women's javelin respectively.

This is the sixth time that athletes from the coastal city have been invited to participate in the event in Mokpo.

Xiamen has also invited runners from Mokpo to take part in the Xiamen International Marathon for nine consecutive years.

Since Xiamen and Mokpo established sister city relations ten years ago, the two cities have maintained frequent sports exchanges, which have helped provide a platform for those engaged in sports to exchange ideas and share experiences.
