An African man was arrested for smuggling after being caught with nearly 2 kg of cocaine inside his body at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province, customs authorities announced Wednesday.

The man was arrested after taking a flight from Dubai to Guangzhou on June 6. He excreted 1.97 kg of cocaine, the largest amount of drugs Guangzhou customs have discovered hidden inside a human body in the last ten years.

The man admitted to swallowing 100 pills of cocaine and said a drug cartel had promised to give him 5,000 U.S. dollars for delivering the drugs.

"The suspect is well educated and a university graduate, which is different from previous suspects," said Tang Liang, a customs official in the airport.

Guangdong customs had seized 245.3 kg of various kinds of drugs, solved 47 drug smuggling cases, and detained 38 suspects as of Aug. 29 this year, according to Zheng Jun, from the authority.
