If you see a little yellow and green house full of books in Wuxi, feel free to take one: The houses are part of the "Drifting Bookcase" charity project that is designed to get Wuxi reading by giving away free books.

The project was set up by Zhou Mingzhu, a local altruist who has previously won the "Good Person of China" award for his charitable projects.

With the help of the Shangde Tongxin volunteer team, Zhou has installed 11 book huts on streets around Wuxi so far.

People have already donated over 2,000 books to the project so far. The group is also holding book clubs and other cultural events to encourage people to read more in their spare time.

If you do take a book, remember to put it back into one of the huts after you‘ve finished reading it so that more people can enjoy it.
