During the activities, Karla gifted Guangzhou Children's Library with sculptures created by renowned Mexican artists and selected works of poet and diplomat Octavio Paz, who won the Noble Prize for Literature in 1990.

In keeping with Mexico's tradition of using skeletons and skulls to make fun of popular figures, various activities involving skeletons were arranged, including readings of picture books such as Funny Bones Posada and His Day of the Dead Calaveras.

Guangzhou Children's Library also set up a special bookshelf with a wide range of Mexico-themed books, aimed at helping young chicos and chicas from Guangzhou gain a better understanding of Mexican culture, customs and literature.
