In response to the call of Department of Civil Affairs of Henan Province, Nanyang municipal government has allocated 1.8 million yuan ($269,058) to renovate nursing homes in the city.

The renovation will see power lines upgraded, and smoke detectors and video surveillance systems installed in the nursing homes within three years.

After the inspection of the provincial department, a series of measures will be rolled out to benefit people, said Chu Qingyi, director of Nanyang Civil Affairs Bureau. The city will also launch a three-month campaign to eliminate problems in its civil affairs system.

The provincial department spoke highly of the efforts made by Nanyang, which has set a good example for the province to strengthen the regulation of nursing homes and provide better services.
