Guangzhou offers $7 million to financial talents

After launching its financial talent subsidy two years ago, Guangzhou has handed out a total of 47.25 million yuan ($7 million), according to official figures.

The policy has benefited 438 talents including two leading personnel in the financial sector and 124 advanced financial management professionals.

On Aug 11, Guangzhou municipal bureau of financial affairs began another round to appraise the financial talents in the city and offer them subsidies.

The talents include leading personnel in the financial sector, senior financial managers and advanced professional financial talents. The beneficiaries can be talents who have been working in one of Guangzhou's financial institutions, financial research institutions or financial industry self-regulation organizations for three years and have signed a three-year contract; Or talents who have moved to Guangzhou from other cities since 2016 and have been working at financial institution, financial research institution or financial industry self-regulation organization on a three-year contract.

Those wishing to apply for the subsidy have until Aug 31.
