Guangzhou Metro has announced that it will roll out more services by the end of this year for the convenience of passengers, local media outlet Southcn.com reported on Aug 7.

Four new lines, to cover over 400 kilometers, will be opened this year. To cope with increased demand, trains running on Line 13 carrying eight subway cars will have a capacity of 3,456 passengers – 33 percent more than normal trains.

Metro authorities will also increase the number of trains on Line 4 during peak hours while shortening the interval times to relieve traffic pressure.

New metro stations will have new equipment and services added, ranging from wider passage gates to self-service terminals, electronic guidance systems, and nursery rooms.

Metro riders will be able to buy one-way tickets using their mobile phones, instead of buying physical tickets, to provide greater convenience.

Other services will include umbrella rental, the opening of new cultural walls and the availability of english service.
