Overseas Chinese teenagers embrace mother culture

Overseas teenagers of Chinese descent recently participated in a summer camp dubbed "Embrace China" in Yuncheng, Shanxi province. They visited the Yellow River and Shanzhou silo-cave in Sanmenxia, Henan province.

The Shanxi Provincial Authority and the Yuncheng Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese organized the summer camp.

The activity attracted about 40 teenagers from countries such as Britain, Japan, Kuwait, and others. They took Chinese language and culture courses, and participated in cultural activities aimed inculcating in them the charm and beauty of Chinese culture. Some of the activities were Chinese paper-cutting, calligraphy and painting.

The youngsters visited the Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park and the Baolun Temple Tower. They were entertained by performances of Jiangzhou drum music and Jishan flower drum.
