Officials from the Wuxi New District (WND) government's Taiwan affairs office have paid a visit to a large number of Taiwan companies and residents in the district over the past five months to make sure that the city’s Taiwan community is happy with life in East China.

The personal visits have become an effective method for helping Taiwan companies and residents file requests, lodge complaints and seek help from the local government.

So far, the officials have visited a total of 27 Taiwan companies and handled 33 of 36 requests received during these visits on issues ranging from business operations to market expansion.

The group has also helped a dozen Taiwan residents solve common problems experienced by many living in mainland cities, such as the difficulty of getting their children access to public education.

A Taiwan resident surnamed Chen has been working in Wuxi for five years, and this year his daughter reached the age when she will start school. Chen applied to a few kindergartens but all his applications failed.

With the help of the group, the problem that he has struggled with for a long time has been solved.

The WND government also established a special working group in July to help improve its services to Taiwan residents. The group is set to focus on the protection of Taiwan companies' lawful rights and interests in the district.
