Wuxi's government has introduced a new eco-friendly way to facilitate public traffic. The Gofun car-sharing service, developed by Chery Automobile Company and the Shou Qi Group, gives residents a chance to share vehicles, just as they now share bicycles.

The first Gofun shared cars were available in Wuxi's Sunan Shuofang Airport on July 22. Travelers at the airport were able to rent a new energy car by downloading an app on their phones. This proved a convenient way for them to reach their hotels or scenic spots.

The Chery eQ1 app has many advantages. For only 45 yuan ($6.7) users can rent a Gofun car for five hours and drive 40 kilometers.

In terms of speed and range, the car can run 180km without recharging and its speed can reach up to 100 kilometers per hour. Moreover, users can recharge it at any charging post.

As for its charging limits, recharging takes six to eight hours in normal mode and only 0.5 to 1.5 hours in quick charge mode, which is available for regular trips. The Gofun new energy shared-car service now operates in 20 cities in China. One hundred and twenty cars are available and that number is expected to reach 150,000 by the end of the year.

As a first step, Gofun will place hundreds of Chery eQ1 cars into the Liangxi and Binhu district business areas and extend the coverage later to Xishan, Xinwu, and Huishan districts.

Gofun's arrival in Wuxi promotes tourism across the city and provides an opportunity for Wuxi residents to experience a convenient and safe car service.
