The Nanyang Federation of Trade Unions organized a relief team to visit outdoor workers on July 21.
As the summer heat wave sweeps across most parts of China, Nanyang hasn't been t spared either. Temperatures in the city has risen exceedingly measuring 35 degrees Celsius for weeks, raising concern about the working conditions of outdoor workers such as cleaners, gardeners and construction workers.
To relieve workers from the sweltering summer, the Unions spent 200,000 yuan ($29,635) from its budget to buy refreshment, including towels, mugs and heatstroke medicines for the workers.
Xie Xianfeng, chairman of Nanyang Federation of Trade Unions, joined the team who visited the outdoor workers at their respective workplaces.
Outdoor workers make great efforts to provide a better living environment for local residents, Xie noted, and hope that companies will arrange the working time of employees in a scientific and reasonable way to ensure the health.
