Half marathon to hit the road in Yizhou

A half marathon will get underway on Sept 17 in Yizhou, a county-level city of Hechi, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, it was announced by the city's publicity department.

As a featured part of the seventh Liu Sanjie Cultural Tourism Festival, the 21-kilometer running event, half the distance of a full marathon, will also give competitors the chance to appreciate Yizhou's gorgeous landscapes.

Renowned as the hometown of Liu Sanjie, a skilled singer of traditional folk songs, Yizhou is also home to unique mountain landforms and rivers as well as secluded caves and beautiful stone structures.

The organizer has designed several competition events, to cater to marathon lovers of different ages. They will battle it out in the men's, women's and team's 21-kilometer race, or men's and women's 10-kilometer speed marathon, as well as a 5-kilometer fun run.

Certificates and bonuses will be awarded to contestants as stipulated by International Association of Athletics Federations and Chinese Athletics Association, said the organizer.

Athletes can enroll their names in the running activity from July 15 to Aug 10.
