A new virtual reality (VR) entertainment complex opened in Guangzhou on July 12, giving gamers a glimpse at the latest developments in immersive entertainment.

The venue is run by a VR game developer and so is fitted with all the latest mod-cons and requirements to get the most out of the experience.

"VR rooms need to be spacious enough so that players can get fully immersed," said the developer, adding that with each new development gamers and newcomers to the entertainment become more curious.

First-generation VR products, like the the egg chair, provide only a limited amount of immersion for gamers as they just sit on a chair wearing the VR headset. The second generation allows players to move about in the virtual world, albeit in a small area.

"Our games give players not only a virtual world, but provide them extra feeling too, with vibrating floors, moving seats and wind machines," said a staff member of the VR entertainment house.

"The games provide players with a range of challenges using VR, such as laser positioning, zero-delay scene tracking and real-time feedback from handheld devices."

The VR industry became a mainstream sensation in 2015 and kept thriving in 2016, but this year its popularity has started to wane due to slow upgrades for hardware and equipment as well as a lack of new games.

"Our VR house is different from common VR experience centers as we offer a variety of projects which feature numerous games involving puzzle solving, teamwork and survival," added the staff member. "We are committed to building a VR house that integrates advanced VR technology and a rich game-playing experience."
