Snacks to try at the Pingtan Cross-Straits Food Fiesta

A food fiesta serving up 50 unique delicacies from Pingtan and Taiwan is being held in Aoqian Taiwan Town in Pingtan, Fujian province from June 17 to 20.

Tickets for the food fiesta cost only 25 yuan per person, according to its organizing committee.

At the fiesta, you'll be able to try some delicious dishes that are unique to Pingtan. Here are three must-try delicacies:

Oyster cake

As a city embraced by the sea, seafood is commonly used as ingredients in various local snacks and dishes in Pingtan. Oyster cake is a crispy fried pastry filled with shredded ingredients including cabbage, oysters and seaweed. The taste and texture leave a pleasant aftertaste.

Shilai yunzhuan

Shulai Yunzhuan is a type of round cake made of sweet potato flour and filled with a mixture of shredded ingredients such as seaweed, radish, cabbage, pork and shrimp. One of the most popular snacks in Pingtan, it is much favored by locals of all ages.
