Construction on the sixth chamber of the Dashijian Reservoir in Sanmenxia, Henan province was completed on June 1, marking an important milestone for the city's water conservation project.

With a capacity of 62,000 cubic meters and standing 557.4 meters tall, the completion comes before the start of the annual flood season.

Construction on the 354-million-yuan ($52.1 million) reservoir began on July 22, 2016, which is the city largest ongoing project.

The reservoir is expected to solve the city's irrigation problems and provides drinking water for 33,000 locals, when completed-which is expected to be in 2019.

The city government attaches great importance to the project and hopes it can generate huge economic, social and environmental benefits to Sanmenxia.
