The countdown has begun for the national college entrance exam, known as gaokao, with the beginning of June.

The city of Wuxi in Jiangsu province is rolling out support for its high-achieving students so they remain fully-focused on this life changing event, which takes place this year from June 7 to 9.

To help students concentrate and get some sleep in the run-up to their exams, Wuxi's Liangxi and Xinwu districts have banned several sources of noise pollution including guangchangwu, or "square dancing".

Construction work after 10 pm is also prohibited, as is using loudspeakers on the road.
