Construction of Mei Li Zhi Guan Cross-Straits International Tourism City in Pingtan has taken a step closer to completion with its main structure to be finished soon.
Located near Tannan Bay, Mei Li Zhi Guan occupies an area of about 1 million square meters and has attracted investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion).
As a large tourism complex, it will include catering, accommodation, sports and leisure, meeting, entertainment and shopping facilities.
Many tourism projects have sprung up in the island city in recent years, such as Haitan Ancient City, a cultural tourism complex featuring a large number of buildings built in ancient architectural style, which opened to the public in 2014.
