Baotou launched a series of activities including reading festivals to promote reading in the city, according to local media.

The largest city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been leading the way in promoting reading and topped Amazon’s ‘Most Well-Read Cities in China’ list in 2016.

It successfully hosted the 26th National Book Expo which opened on July 28. Delegations and publishers from 44 provinces and cities across China flocked to attend the expo, bringing with them an estimated 200,000 books for one of the biggest Chinese book events.
