Yantai, Scotland pledge to further deepen economic ties

A delegation of 11members led by Tim Allan, Scottish Chambers of Commerce president, recently visited China's eastern coastal city of Yantai to pave the way for further economic exchange and cooperation between the two sides.

Zhang Bo, deputy mayor of Yantai, held in-depth and full-range talks with the delegation.

A memorandum on economic and trade cooperation was signed in a bid to achieve win-win results by advancing bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various areas.

Zhang extended a warm welcome to the Scottish guests and outlined Yantai's economic and social development in recent years.

Zhang said that with the development of the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Britain, Yantai and Scotland will share close economic and trade ties and can expect fruitful achievements.

Zhang hoped the two sides will take the visit as an opportunity to strengthen all-round cooperation in various areas such as agriculture, marine fisheries, oil and gas services, energy, life sciences and financial services.

Allan conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception. He said that Yantai is a charming city full of economic vitality and that the Scottish Chambers of Commerce attach great importance to cooperation with Yantai. He added that the chambers are willing to actively facilitate cooperation and investment between enterprises of the two sides.

The Scottish Chambers of Commerce also set up a regional office in Yantai during the visit.
