Heilongjiang has issued a survey report on its progress in energy saving and emission reduction in 2016.
Energy consumption for every GDP unit will be reduced by 3.2 percent in 2017 compared with the previous year, according to the report.
The report noted that the emission loads for chemical oxygen demand and ammonia nitrogen will be cut by 1 percent, and those for sulfur dioxide and nitric oxide by 0.5 percent.
By the end of this year, small coal-fired boilers in prefecture-level cities and above will be renovated or removed. Discharge of pollutants in four industries — thermal power, steel, cement, and waste incineration — will be monitored.
In 2017, Heilongjiang will strive to increase sewage disposal by 50,000 tons every day and household garbage by 2,200 tons every day.
Furthermore, the report proposed the completion of a network to monitor soil environmental quality.
Energy saving work will be continuously promoted in key areas, and an environmentally friendly manufacturing system will be developed.
