The children of local residents in Shenyang will soon be able to enjoy Canadian-style preschool education from as early as this May, Xinhua reported on March 12.

Crystal Han, president of Maple Bear Global Schools Ltd’s Asia program, confirmed that the Vancouver-based education provider would be setting up four kindergartens in Shenyang.

Han promised that all four kindergartens would deliver a student-focused learning system, with an emphasis on languages, social skills, and cross-cultural communication –– all delivered in an English-speaking environment.

The style of management and curriculum at the kindergartens will be Canadian-style, creating an authentic Canadian study environment for children.

Teachers will be recruited from Canada and other foreign countries.

Already, two of the kindergartens have finished construction, and each kindergarten aims to sign up between 100 and 120 students on May 8.

On April 22, the two kindergartens will open trial classes for local children to experience Canadian-style preschool education, where children will have a chance to play with imported toys, and sample the music facilities and gymnasium, as well as Canadian-style classrooms.

Wang Zhaoxia, the chairman of Liaoning province’s federation of returned overseas Chinese, introduced Liaoning’s efforts to support the development of the Canadian-style kindergartens. She also expressed her hopes that the kindergartens would set an example as a high-quality preschool education model for Shenyang.
