A new high-speed railway passing through a number of popular tourism sites in East China opens on Wednesday, boosting tourism development and improving regional social and economic development, the national railway operator China State Railway Group said on Tuesday.

The 560-kilometer railway linking Hangzhou of Zhejiang province and Nanchang of Jiangxi province, designed to reach up to 350 km per hour, passes several tourism attractions such as the West Lake, the Thousand Islands Lake, the Huangshan Mountain, the Poyang Lake and the capital of porcelain Jingdezhen.

On Wednesday, the final leg of the railway linking Huangshan and Nanchang, which extends to 288 km, begins operation. The other section between Huangshan and Hangzhou began service in 2018.

There are nine Grade 5 (the highest grade) and more than 70 Grade 4 (the second-highest grade) national tourist sites along the railway, forming a golden tourism high-speed railway line linking natural and cultural popular attractions.
