Outbound direct investment in China grows

China's outbound direct investment has continued to grow in the first 10 months of this year, especially in economies involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

From January to October, China's outbound non-financial direct investment reached 736.2 billion yuan ($101.5 billion), up 17.3 percent year-on-year. In particular, Chinese companies' non-financial direct investment in the countries and regions involved in the BRI achieved 181.69 billion yuan, up 27 percent on a yearly basis, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, during the 10 months, the turnover of China’s foreign contracted projects reached 856.88 billion yuan, up 8.3 percent year-on-year. The value of China's newly signed contracts in foreign countries reached 1.08 trillion yuan, down 1.1 percent year-on-year.

The turnover of China’s foreign contracted projects in the economies involved in the BRI reached 702.32 billion yuan, up 9.6 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s newly signed contracts in BRI economies achieved 902.64 billion yuan, edging up 0.5 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.
