Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology

Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology is a provincial higher vocational college founded in 1999 under the approval of the Ministry of Education. Its history can date back to the Jinan Huilu Commercial School established in 1936.

The college now covers a combined floor area of more than 420,000 square meters and the total value of its teaching equipment is 180 million yuan ($26.09 million). The school library has more than 1.3 million volumes.

By May 2019, the college had 51 majors, including accountancy, marketing, cloud computing technology and application, refrigeration and air-conditioning technology, food nutrition and detection, and tourism management.

Relying on Lushang Group, one of the province's leading real estate developers, the college built up the national agriculture-product modern logistics engineering and technological research center. Apart from this, it also boasts the provincial key laboratory for the storage, transport and preservation technologies for agricultural products, the provincial cloud business and big data engineering center, and city-level engineering and technological research centers for meat quality and safety control.

The college has been promoting cooperation with social enterprises, and the integration of production and education. It has reached a cooperation agreement with Haier Group, one of China's leading home appliance makers, Lenovo Group, the world's largest manufacturer of personal computers, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, and Siemens China Co to collaborate on textbook compilation, teacher training, and student internships and employment. The employment rate of the school's graduates has reached over 99 percent.

The college also attaches importance to international cooperation and exchanges. It founded a scientific research training center in Thailand, and a Sino-Thai international tourism school in August 2018 by cooperating with Thailand's Siam university.

Regular exchange and training activities have been carried out for teachers from the school and universities and colleges in more than 10 countries and regions. It has cooperated with universities and colleges in the United States, Australia, and South Korea to jointly open programs in accountancy and international commerce, and exchange students.
