Weifang Medical University

Weifang Medical University is a provincial full-time medical university in East China's Weifang city, which is known as the World Kite Capital.

The university can be traced back to the medical school and hospital established at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. In 1958, Changwei Medical School was established and was renamed Weifang Medical University in 1987.

Undergraduate education has been available at the university since its establishment in 1958. It was authorized to confer master's degrees in 1986, was qualified to enroll international students in 1998, and began enrolling doctoral students in 2013.

To date, the university has 18 schools and departments, which offer 27 majors for bachelor degrees, covering medicine, science and engineering, management, and law. Eight master's degree programs for first-rank disciplines and 52 master's degree programs for second-rank disciplines are also available at the university.

In 2018, the university was awarded one first prize, two second prizes and two third prizes in the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards. Its clinical medicine discipline entered the top 1 percent in the global rankings set by Essential Science Indicators, also known as ESI, an authoritative analysis and evaluation tool for measuring scientific research performance.

Weifang Medical University has set up collaborations with colleges, universities and research institutions in the United States, Canada, Australia, Britain, South Korea and other countries and regions. It is an international student enrollment school for undergraduate clinical medicine majors (taught in English) approved by the Ministry of Education.

Covering a combined floor area of more than 630,000 square meters, the university has two campuses, in Fuyan Mountain and Yuhe River scenic areas. By April 2019, it had 13 provincial-level training bases for graduates, and 17 affiliated hospitals.
