Gutian Tourist Area, Longyan

(龙岩市古田旅游区 lóng yán shì gǔ tián lyǔ yóu qū)

Gutian Tourist Area is located in Gutian town, Shanghang county, Longyan, Southeast China’s Fujian province. It is the only 5A-level attraction about red tourism in the province. Red tourism is a subset of tourism in China with locations of historical significance to Chinese Communism.

Gutian town was listed in the first batch of national cultural and historical towns. The Gutian Meeting, which is considered a milestone for the development of the Communist Party of China, was held in the town at the end of December, 1929. The meeting was presided over by revolutionaries Mao Zedong, Zhu De and Chen Yi. The resolution adopted at the meeting maps out a great program for building the Red Army.

Highlights of the tourist area include the Site of the Gutian Meeting and the Gutian Meeting Memorial Hall. In addition, visitors can view South China tigers in a base and enjoy the yew garden there. The folk culture of Gutian is also a highlight of the tourist area.
