Weifang People's Hospital

The predecessor of Weifang People's Hospital was the Weihsien Shantung American Presbyterian Hospital founded by the United Presbyterian Church of North America in 1881. The hospital got its current name in January 1984 and was rated as a 3A-grade hospital by the provincial government in 1992.

Covering a combined floor area of 348,600 square meters, the hospital has one brain branch hospital, one women's and children's branch hospital, and two branch hospitals in the city's Hanting district and Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone.

It currently has 78 clinical departments and medical laboratories, and employs 3,888 staff members, of whom 663 have deputy senior titles or above.

The departments of critical care medicine and neurosurgery were selected as national key clinical specialty construction projects, while seven departments – hepatological surgery, neurosurgery, urinary surgery, gastroenterology, hematology, ultrasonography and orthopedics – were listed among Shandong provincial key specialties in medicine and health.

The hospital is equipped with 168 advanced devices, each of which is worth more than 10,000 yuan ($1,450), providing powerful support for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of basic medical treatments and critical illnesses.

The outpatient amount of the main campus of the hospital in 2018 exceeded 1.84 million person-times, while the number of patients discharged surpassed 122,700 person-times.

Due to its emphasis on scientific research, the hospital has about 30 scientific research achievements on average that have won provincial or municipal scientific and technological progress awards every year.
