Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has made a strong showing in the "2025 Top 10 Science & Technology Advancements in Inner Mongolia", with four major projects recognized for their innovation and industrial impact.

Highlights include:

World's first zero-carbon airport: The Ordos Ejin Horoo International Airport now operates as a fully zero-carbon facility, featuring a pioneering carbon dioxide heating-cooling integrated energy system, cross-seasonal ground-source energy storage, and an AI-powered green electricity management platform, developed by Peking University's Ordos Energy Research Institute.

World's largest single-plant coal-to-olefins project: The 3-million-metric-ton olefins plant in Uxin Banner achieved full domestic development of core equipment, with 23 systems reaching internationally-leading standards, marking a milestone for China's high-end equipment manufacturing.

China's first 720V solid-state sodium battery: Led by Inner Mongolia Jianheng Aoneng Technology Co, the high-voltage solid-state sodium battery with ceramic electrolyte represents the first fully domestically controlled commercial product of its kind, driving the energy storage industry forward.

Thousand-standard-unit alkaline electrolyzer: This locally developed hydrogen production system is able to operate stably amid strong power fluctuations from wind and solar sources, supporting renewable energy integration and advancing Inner Mongolia's hydrogen and new energy sector.

These projects reflect Ordos' leadership in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and innovative technology, contributing to both regional development and China's broader high-tech transformation.
