Stone carving captures Huo Qubing's legendary victory against Xiongnu

This rustic and solid stone carving, "Horse Treading on the Xiongnu", once stood before the tomb of Huo Qubing (140-117 BC), the legendary Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) general who led decisive campaigns against the Xiongnu. The warhorse stands tall and fearless, trampling an enemy warrior under its hooves and pinning him down with two strong forelegs. This sculpture reflects Huo Qubing's great victory in the Qilian Mountains campaign, with the horse symbolizing military strength and triumph. Now, this national treasure is preserved at the Maoling Museum.
