Shenyang winter expo showcases intangible cultural heritage

The 2026 Liaoning Intangible Cultural Heritage Winter Expo kicks off on Wednesday at the Liaoning Science and Technology Museum in Shenyang, Liaoning province. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

In the winter fun science park, visitors can write Spring Festival couplets and learn paper-cutting. There is also an art of coal carving showcase. Artisans are on-site to explain its history and techniques. Visitors can touch the raw materials and try their hand at carving.

Liaoning's creative philosophy is on full display, with over 1,000 intangible cultural heritage works ranging from coal carvings to Songhua inkstones.
