China's first major exhibition themed on the history of Chinese decorative motifs has just opened at the Museum of Wu in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. The exhibition Decorations and Patterns of Ancient China deciphers thousands of years of cultural DNA through patterns that are vividly etched on bronzes, carved in jade, shaped in gold and silver, painted on ceramics, or woven into garments.
From the Neolithic period to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), these motifs are more than just decorations – they are symbols of belief, identity, and worldview.
Dates: Until May 6, 2026
