Prosperous Furong Town: Bizika’s Carnival (The Tujia people called themselves “Bizika”, which means “native dwellers”) uses the authentic setting of Furong town to create a vivid, immersive experience. Through a procession-style performance, it brings together 13 elements of national intangible cultural heritage — including Maogusi dance, Youshui mountain songs, Tima shamanic chants and the Copper Bell dance — vividly recreating the 800-year history of the Tusi chieftain system. The show highlights the Tujia people’s bravery, boldness and straightforwardness, while capturing their rich and heartfelt cultural spirit, weaving a grand “ethnic epic”.

The performance unfolds across four chapters — Sovereign of Heaven and Earth, Bloodbound Alliance, Grand Tour of Prosperity and Love Fills the Youshui River — bringing to life the two-thousand-year-old legends of Furong town. It vividly portrays the Tusi dynasty’s regal aura, the sincerity of its alliances, the joy of prosperous times and the beauty of Tujia folk customs.

The Tusi was an official position in China’s frontier regions, established during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), and was used to confer authority on the chieftains of ethnic minority tribes in the northwest and southwest.
