COSCO Shipping's green energy charging-swapping integrated operation project was recently launched in the Lingang International Logistics Park of Haicang Area in the Xiamen Free Trade Zone. This marks the official launch of the largest integrated demonstration base for green energy production, storage, and consumption in a port-side area.
The project represents a total investment of approximately 33 million yuan ($4.63 million). The currently operational charging and swapping facilities boast an annual capacity of 30 GWh, capable of supporting the first 130 electric heavy-duty trucks put into operation, enabling "zero-carbon" shuttling for port container transportation.
Meanwhile, construction has started on a 50,000-square-meter distributed photovoltaic power station. With an annual clean electricity generation capacity of 10.08 GWh, it will provide electricity for nearly 120,000 square meters of warehouse space in the port-side logistics park.
This ensures a green energy source for the electric heavy-duty trucks and directly reduces their single-trip operational energy costs by 15-20 percent, fundamentally realizing the goal of "using green electricity to transport global goods".
The project demonstrates how the Xiamen FTZ is leveraging its ports to drive the comprehensive green upgrading of Xiamen Port's logistics system.
