Blending tradition and modernity, the concert Blossoms of Suzhou Age draws inspiration from Jiangnan and Gusu (ancient name for Suzhou), weaving together Kunqu Opera, Suzhou Pingtan (storytelling and ballad singing in the Suzhou dialect) and symphonic music. Commissioned from three generations of composers, this concert by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Suzhou’s elegance and vitality — where East meets West in harmony.
