CCG expert's warning: the US IP Trap—how overprotection can strangle competition

David Blair, senior economist at the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), highlighted that the US economy has become highly monopolistic, partly due to abuse of the patent system, at the "CEO: Grow with China" Roundtable which was held in Beijing on Sept 12. "I hope China does not follow this path." he remarked. Using Amazon’s "one click purchase" patent as an example, Blair explained how such practices have "devastated numerous small and medium entrepreneurs.
