This rounded white-glazed pot from the Liao Dynasty (916-1125) has sloping shoulders and a curved belly, standing on a foot ring. A round spout is placed on the upper part of the belly. A loop handle is attached to the shoulder. The front end of the handle splits into three prongs, and the lower end of each prong is affixed with a round floral motif. The back end of the handle is molded to resemble a cord, and its lower end is embellished with ruyi-shaped floral ornaments.
Unearthed in the suburb of Datong city, Shanxi province, this treasure of refined simplicity is housed in the Shanxi Museum.
