This Neolithic grey pottery urn, with its tripod base, ovoid (egg-shaped) belly and cord marking decoration, often served as a burial vessel millennia ago. Similar urns have been unearthed since the 1950s in sites across Shanxi, southern Inner Mongolia and northeastern Shaanxi. This piece is housed in the Taiyuan Museum in Shanxi province.
