To apply, you need: A passport valid for at least six months with blank visa pages, a completed Visa Application Form with a recent photo, and proof of legal stay if applying outside your country of citizenship. If you have had a Chinese visa before and want to apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport, please remember to include copies of your previous passport or visa page(s). Supporting documents include a round-trip flight booking and hotel reservation, or an invitation letter from a host in China with your personal details, travel itinerary, and the inviter's contact information and signature.
Processing time, procedure, and fees vary — please check the website of the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your area. The visa's validity, duration, and number of entries are determined by the consular officer. Extra documents or an interview may be required.
Tourist visas can be extended once for up to 30 days with a travel plan and a certification letter from a travel agency (for group tours only).
