Since its debut in 2000, the large-scale folk music and dance show Charming Xiangxi has staged over 7,000 performances and welcomed more than 16 million spectators from home and abroad. After more than two decades of development, it has become the most popular folk performance in the Zhangjiajie region.

The show takes place at the Charming Xiangxi International Cultural Plaza, located at the entrance of Wulingyuan district in the city of Zhangjiajie. With exquisite stage design, ancient musical melodies, dazzling lighting effects and splendid ethnic costumes, it offers a refined cultural feast showcasing the rich ethnic heritage of western Hunan.

From the rhythmic Miao drum dance and thrilling ladder-climbing acts to the ancient Maogusi dance, the mystical corpse-driving ritual, the emotional Tujia wedding lament and the legendary Ghost Valley martial arts—the performance integrates ethnic music, dance and multimedia to present a spectacular display of the folk culture and traditional arts. It has become a golden name card of Hunan’s cultural tourism.
