Comedian Will Chou (Chou Wei-hung) from Taiwan recently gave an impressive performance at a stand-up comedy competition in Fuzhou, Fujian province, earning the title of "Fujian Cultural and Tourism Stand-up Comedy Ambassador".
Throughout his career, Chou has harbored a passion for art and a fervor for cross-Strait exchanges, dedicating himself to cultural activities.
"I hope to introduce Fujian from a Taiwan perspective through stand-up comedy, sharing Fujian's cuisine and lifestyle with Taiwan youth to help them understand the way of life in the Chinese mainland," Chou said. "There are many policies to support and nurture artistic projects, providing young people with great development opportunities."
In 2018, he began a doctoral degree in drama and film at Xiamen University. During the process, he established a cultural communication company that works with rural vitalization, art exhibits, children's drama education, and elderly education.
"I have a team of 12 members, covering drama and film, architectural landscapes, art design, and economics, with eight Taiwan employees," he said. "Youth from both sides of the Strait possess different expertise and resources. I hope they can collaborate to leverage their respective strengths."
"The two sides share the same ancestry, culture, and history, laying a solid foundation for artistic exchanges," he added. "I hope to introduce traditional Taiwan art to Fujian and promote in-depth artistic cooperation between the two sides of the Strait."
The Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism organized the competition to showcase Fujian's dynamic culture and tourism resources and diverse lifestyle.
